Avoid peak period if you plan to use the public bath area.

big and clean room. Ample parking space, close to train station.

The public bath area can get really crowded at times. There are rooms without a bathroom hence guests will have to use the public bath area. Had to wait for vacant bath cubicle when the area gets too crowded.

Very Good

I wanted to stay at this hotel mostly for it's proximity to the Kyoto Aquarium. It also seemed to have a unique and fun decor. On both points, we were not disappointed.

The only "issue" my husband and I had that, while the coffee station on floor three was a cool and interesting idea, it does get a bit congested in the morning. But that was a very small thing.

The hotel is simply amazing, full of open spaces for both kids and parents! We ended every evening in the hotel’s private Santo, which really elevated the entire vacation. The staff is excellent and very friendly, and the breakfast is indulgent.

Restful oasis away from the intense tourism of Kyoto

I absolutely loved this hotel. From the design, the staff and the amenities it was really well done for a 3/4star hotel. It was a perfect spot for a few slower days in Kyoto for us after 1.5 weeks traveling Japan. We stayed in the wood box room which was so comfy and cozy and slightly larger than most japanese double bedrooms. It was cool that it was a touch of traditional japanese with slightly raised platform beds, but also had western features. The free drinks/coffee snacks were all also a great touch. The hotel is a bit far from like downtown Kyoto, but 20 minutes via train or less via Cabs which were all pretty reasonable. Would definitely stay here again and recommended it to anyone.

Location doesn't have a lot of restaurants or nightlife close by, but it was perfectly fine for what we needed.

Staying at Umeji Potel was a unique experience that we thoroughly enjoyed while exploring Kyoto! Highly Recommend :)

Staff was very kind and helpful :) well kept cute hotel with awesome amenities. The pour over station/ evening drink station were great :) loved the pajamas!

Better than perfect and will absolutely return. Would rate higher if I could!

Incredible location next to train station, park, aquarium and more. Extremely kind and helpful staff. Gorgeous, spacious and well-designed room with a balcony. Amazing on-site facilities and perks like free coffee/beer, curated library, play spaces and bathhouse. LUUP station right behind the building.

Loved that there were laundry machines that you could check availability on in your room but they were constantly in use so I ended up going to the laundromat a couple blocks away. Not really the hotel’s fault, but something to note if you’re looking to do laundry during a quick stay.

The hotel was modern, clean and comfortable. Lovely Japanese ‘style’ rooms and very comfortable beds.

Very Good

Hotel faces a park and is vey near to aquarium. Subway station is nearby and is 1 stop away from Kyoto Station. Starbucks is close by too. The room is spacious, and beds are very comfortable. Breakfast is varied and plentiful.

We arrived late and check into our room only to find 2 toothbrushes and no drinks. We needed hot teas as we had travelled 4 hrs from Takayama to Kyoto Station and then took a taxi to the hotel. Later we had dinner and ordered wine at the cafe on the ground floor. This was unfortunate as the wine was available as BYO. It was only on the 2nd day that we found the location for the free beer, wine, juices and snacks. There were free toileteries at another location. We simply used our own. To get to the public baths, we had to climb down several flights of stairs. We gave up on this too.

Enjoyed the breakfast and the facilities a unique concept for a hotel with the communal spaces. The room was larger than most and I liked how the shower sink and ex were all separate which would be nice if you were traveling with family etc. staff was very nice

Great hotel in Kyoto in great location

Location close to JR station. Very nice and comfortable room with balcony, large bed and good pillows. Availability of some drinks and Coffee during some hours.

Missing are only for adults during breakfast time. Was too many families with little children creating huge Queque waiting for pancakes and taking so many from slow machine. As well in drinking area was not quiet, running Kids, streaming etc...

The hotel is excellent, I wouldn't add or change anything. Simply amazing. Staff, location, facilities, everything. I will definitely stay again when back to Kyoto.

Wonderful

We like the room, the pool, and the breakfast. Also the night restaurant was nice and convenient for the stay.

The front desk staff were very helpful and professional. But the breakfast room some staff were not nice and unfriendly: 1) We had requested they cook the raw eggs but they refused. They said Japanese eat raw eggs in breakfast, we need to requested one day advance. Is your hotel only accepting Japanese? 2) We drank tea after breakfast at 9:30 in the morning. But the service lady said we need to go, it was very rudely to customer. Wish the hotel management need to improve the service quality as well.

EXCELLENT!!!

If you are looking for a place near Kyoto station or even the west side of Kyoto! Stay here!! The room was amazing and breakfast was excellent !! Best place to stay if you have children with you as they provide alot of activities ! + a bonus = hot spring!!! Amazing place. I will stay here again in the future.

Great for families!

We avoid hotels because it’s harder with kids 4 and 7. This place was the exception! The room size worked well for us, and my kids LOVED playing at the park next door. They name lots friends at the park and it was the highlight of their trip. Nice way to experience the culture. The other amenities the hotel from the pear tea, to wine made this whole experience a treat!

A must try hotel in Kyoto.

This hotel is very near the train station. We booked a double room with balcony and garden view. It was very spacious. It’s also very peaceful even though it’s just beside a park. We enjoyed their lounge area where you can have some free snacks and drinks.
